THE CHINA POST OFFICES

Emile Bocian

1977

Located at 11 Allen Street, The China Post was in publication from 1972 through 1986. At its height, the paper saw a nationwide circulation of over 30,000 copies but had gradually declined to 20,000 when it suspended publication.

BUSINESS CARD

Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) Collection

While Bocian worked primarily as a photojournalist for The China Post, his business card emphasized his experience in public relations and advertising. On the Chinese side of the card, Bocian’s name is written phonetically with the characters “Bao Xin.” (A loose translation would be “enclosing information.”)

PULITZER POSTCARD

Always looking for promotional opportunities, Bocian nominated The China Post for a Pulitzer Prize in 1977. To date, no foreign language newspaper has ever won a Pulitzer Prize.
